Recovery & Access
What happens if I lose my phone or forget my PIN? Short answer: You’ll need your Recovery Kit.
Krypt is zero-knowledge, so we can’t reset your PIN. During setup you receive a Recovery Kit with a Master Recovery Key. Use it to unlock your vault on a new device. Without your PIN or Recovery Key, your data is permanently inaccessible.
What is a Decoy Vault? Short answer: A separate vault with its own PIN.
The Decoy Vault is designed for privacy under pressure. It contains innocuous content and looks like a normal vault, but is isolated from your real data.
Importing
Can I take photos directly into Krypt? Short answer: Yes.
Use the in‑app camera to capture a photo directly into your vault. The image is encrypted and saved inside Krypt, not the system photo library.
Can I move my photos back to my regular gallery? Short answer: Yes.
You can decrypt and export any photo or file back to your device at any time.
Privacy & Security
Does Krypt track my usage or location? Short answer: No.
We don’t use analytics, GPS tracking, or a central server that monitors app usage.
Does Krypt work offline? Short answer: Yes.
Krypt is local-first. You can add, view, and organize items without a network connection. Sync resumes automatically when you’re online.
Backup & Sync
How do I back up my vault? Short answer: Export locally or enable private cloud sync.
Privacy doesn’t mean losing your data. You can export an encrypted vault bundle to external storage, or enable private sync with your own Google Drive or iCloud. Data is encrypted before it leaves your device.
Plans & Billing
Is Krypt free to use? Short answer: There’s a free core vault, with optional Pro features.
Krypt offers a free tier with core storage. A Pro tier adds advanced features like folder nesting and decoy vaults.
